COVINGTON, Georgia. – Residents of the Covington area recently had an additional option for all lunch or dinner plans.
The Hibachi Grill Express officially opened in Newton County on October 16, 2021.
Unlike most hibachi restaurants where the chef cooks in front of the customers, this place offers other ways to enjoy their food. There is drive-thru, take-out and, again, dinner available for whatever suits the customer best.
Owner and chef Xiaolong Zhu said he focuses on choosing customers when visiting the restaurant. However, the decision did not change Zhu’s main goal in bringing the Hibachi Grill Express to Covington.
“Even though we’re not a traditional hibachi restaurant,” Zhu said. “The quality and safety of our food is not compromised.”
Zhu continued to point out that all the food was also freshly cooked and prepared.
Located at 11425 Brown Bridge Road, there are many menu items to choose from.
Starting with entrees, the Hibachi Grill Express offers fries, chicken and vegetable spring rolls, cheese wontons, assorted chicken wings and more.
But, according to Zhu, what “really happens” is the fried dumplings that come in a figure eight.
It’s just getting started, though. There is one main menu item that seems to be a fan favorite from what Zhu has observed.
“The Hibachi entree is definitely something people like the most,” Zhu said. “It comes with hibachi sauce and yum yum sauce. It just gives the customer a unique taste and spice things up.
In addition to sauces, the hibachi entrée can be ordered in a number of ways.
It is offered with vegetables, chicken, steak, shrimp and scallops. Customers can also order the entree with combinations of the aforementioned ingredients.
First, there is the “Triple Lover” made with chicken, steak and shrimp. Another is called the “Land Lover” which comes with tenderloins and chicken while the “Sea Lover” comes with shrimp and scallops. The last combo is called “Terre et mer” when customers want the starter to be accompanied by a seafood and a meat.
All hibachi entrees are served with a side of fried rice and mixed vegetables.
Likewise, customers can expect more than just quality food when they visit Hibachi Grill Express. Zhu and his staff pride themselves on providing a “relaxing” experience for all of their customers.
And, for Zhu, he aims to keep that as a top priority to separate his restaurant from others in the area.
“We’re all nice people and we’re all open-minded,” Zhu said. “We will also do whatever it takes to satisfy the customer. And we really want to create an environment where [customers] can come in, sit down and relax. This way they can really enjoy their food.
The Hibachi Grill Express is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 9:30 p.m.
