New Japanese restaurant joins Archie’s and Barburrito in Arndale food district

A new Japanese Korean restaurant serving everything from curry katsu to gyoza dumplings is set to open in Arndale’s new food district, Halle Place.

Famous for its quality Korean and Japanese cuisine, Kokoro will open between the Doner Shack and the Electric Gamebox in the downtown mall. The simple favorites and wide variety of options served at Kokoro are what keep customers coming back time and time again.

Kokoro already has restaurants across the country, but this is the company’s first stop in Manchester. The new restaurant will be Kokoro’s 51st in the UK, having already made a name for itself in Liverpool, Leeds and London.

Kokoro translates to ‘heart’ or ‘soul’, so it’s only fitting that the restaurant has found its new home in the heart of Manchester’s shopping district. The small space will accommodate a few tables, but most people will be ordering takeout.

The menu offers Japanese and Korean hot and cold dishes. Hot dishes including sweet and sour chicken udon noodles and yakisoba. While the cold catering offers sushi sets and poke bowls.

Although it has not been confirmed when the new restaurant will open, the hoardings are already in place in Arndale’s £11million Halle Place and it has been confirmed by a representative that it will not be open before a few months. Here, Kokoro will join Archie’s, Barburrito, Wolf Italian Street Food and more.

Kokoro opened its first restaurant in Kingston upon Thames in 2010 and over the past decade the business has gone from strength to strength and now Kokoro can be found in many towns across the country.
